Show us your Mitsubishi Airtrek pictures...

Hi Guys, my anme is Ravin and i am a new owner of a 2005 pearl white Airtrek Turbo, all stock just with 18 inch rims.

Is there any whatsapp group, will be good to keep in touch. Also my car is very stock , fuel consumption is crazy im using
Ron97 , RM70 = 170km

I am from KL , any mods i should consider. I am thinking of,

1. BOV vent to atmosphere type (any recommendations)
2. Reflash ecu, Where to do this? as i heard it improves performance and fc

Plan to keep my car stock performance wise, no FMIC or bigger turbo plans for now.

All feedback is much appreciated guys, thanks

auto? turbo? heavy right foot?

 dont complains the fc... lol....

my manual turbo forester also getting around 200km for rm50 of ron95....driven relaxedly...

fc goes down the drain if i gun it at higher speed...

BOV...look for 50-50 type... fully vented wont do good to car tuning....

Stock bov is recirculate, maintain it. ECU calculation mixture is include return air too.

Hi Guys,

Yes its a turbo Airtrek, 4G63T , 5 speed automatic.

Ok if FC isnt an issue , then its fine, im using RON97, can this car run RON95 , want to verify this as i notice most people using RON95.

BOV - what is the downside of running a vent to atmosphere BOV, anyone using this type of BOV please advise.

Thanks

What fuel does your manual state? My VR runs on Ron95 but Petron or BHP only, but I do mix with Ron97 alternately.
BOV to atmosphere because of the pressure release sound......lol

Not suRe about manual , but my fuel tank lid says RON95+ Octane , and previous owner used RON97 from the day he got it new.

Some people are advising me to not fit a vent to atmosphere bov as apparently the engine will stall, recommending to use recirculating type bov, please advise on this as i want to fit a bov that is vent to atmosphere but now im having 2nd thoughts.

I want to replace the stock bov as its plastic and im sure wont be as reliable / durable as an aftermarket original branded bov.

Please advise

of first thing first...

just check if the engine is healthy..
-do compression test
-check spark plug condition and proper spark plug gap is used
-no crack/leaking hoses (from intake, turbo, intercooler and other small vaccum hoses..including turbo and exhaust piping)

then only can determine if there is other improvement can be made...

Why should it stall? My VR also on 4G63T have BOV to atmosphere....

Ok , any place in KL / PJ that can recommend to do this, i heard of Ah Wah from Puchong , but anyone else that can assist with this work.

No idea, i test drove a few Airtrek turbo before deciding on which car i want to purchase and 2 of them had a vent to atmosphere bov and it was fine, better throttle response though as mine is stock standard and i notice the throttle is not as lively as the once with a vent to atmosphere bov.

The reason apparently it would stall is because the air mass sensor and stock ecu mapping will not read correctly causing engine to stall.

What BOV are u using and where did you fit yours, i am considering the SARD R2D2 or HKS SSQV type. Also do plan to fit a boost controller as to what i understand it is essential to maintain boost pressure

Mine was done many years ago. BOV was fitted together during transplant. My mechanic source for me from half cut shop....

Ah Wah Air Trek specialist.....:driver:

U can seek ah wah (airtrek specialist) behind merc showroom kinrara or pandawerk (can search at fb) at glenmarie.

my old trek are using cheap HKS SQV and so far no stalling issue as long as its air tight installation. other BOV i never tried but few are ok to use such as Greedy type S and type R.

FC on stock map will caused slightly high FC. get a ECU reflash and it will go 400km++ on full tank (combine hiway and town). Its ok to drive at town but stop and accelerate will suffer high FC. Better run on RON95 and u can use RON97 during ECU reflash get more power and FC.

Overall its a great and tough SUV, good power and torque, practical and spacious, got alot of hidden features.

Hello, all new to this forum. I am in need of a front mount intercooler package for the Airtrek. I was told to contact Ah Wah. But I don't know who that is. Also I live in Europe (Norway) if that is relevant.

Definitely relevant since Ah Wah is based in Malaysia. Haha!

Are half cuts easy to access to Norway considering you guys are super eco friendly? Might be easier to order online

I have searched the internet for intercooler kits, but haven't found anything specific other that a post on this forum.
I don't really want to make a custom kit myself, as I would rather pay a little more and get a kit I can bolt right on.
Any help would be much appreciated.

it might need some holes to be made or some thin sheetmetal cut as well as bumper opening holes to fit...but technically it would fit without much issue
For you experience with mod is easy, but sometimes for layman a bit of mod headache already. Need take out and fit in only.....lol
