yes, the earlier model runs on AFM, while the later 2 models run on MAP. regarding the later model, some say that the unit on the late model AE92 supercharge is better than the one in AE101. so far i can't prove anything, just what i heard.GRexer said:Yeah... the 4A-GZE would be a good idea if u are going for the turbo route, sell off the supercharger wouldn't be a hard thing to do. If not mistaken, earlier and later GZE's difference is in the engine management as well?
So huakenny u recommend the black top with turbo on it?huakenny said:Black-top twincam 20valve.....automatic...with 5 speed....or manual wit 6 speeds.....

4A-fe is 1.5 if not mistaken n no power....Auntie/uncle drive ok la.....for us....4A-Ge consider ok...1.6cc DOHC engine.....NA la of course....Shinda said:Can someone tell me the difference between a 4A-FE and a 4A-GE other than a black top 20v engine
GRexer said:the F and G indicates something if i'm not mistaken, whereby the F = economy G = performance. Toyota have a standardise charactoring system but i'm not too fluent on that.
Basically, the 4A-GE doesn't just mean the blacktop 20v, it can also mean the silvertop 20v, the 16v smallport/bigport.
