Valves Adjusting

Hi its me again long time no see everyone ..... haha ...... :confused_smile: .... sigh i know i`m lame .......
ok here is something i need to understand ...... well that day i went to yamcha then we talk bout the topic adjusting valves ...... so this friend of mine studying in TOC says that adjusting valves no need engage gears ...... but in see those foreman adjust the valves will engage in gear 4 of 5 .....

anyone could have shared ???
