S13 engine Auto trnsmision to manual transmision

Guys, I need help about my S13 engine....
I will do the convertion from auto transmition to manual transmision.....I need to replace my ECU or not?

friend of mine did this before. says overall it runs ok... but idling at low revs a bit funny sometimes.
