The rust spots, if you observe them carefully, it’s located symmetrically at specific spots only. The culprit is the metal based glue that was used to 'stick' the metal piece to the chassis of the roof. Apparently, Proton is using the 'rejected' glue form Japan. Japan car manufacturers (typically Mitsubishi) found out about this back in year 1996 and have come out with replacement for it. What happen to the left over inventories of the problematic old stocks? Proton bought over and use la. Japanese imported cars < years 1996 and protons < year 2000 have high risks for such rusting problem.

U will have to get a good painter, drill + korek off the glues, sealed them back and repaint. Big headache :)

my satria also .... roof and bonnet rusting .... mine UK spec summore .... imagine in uk ppl having this problem ... sure let them shoot ....

something i learned so if wrong don't shoot me . rusting only happens when something acid or salty touch metal .... for example ... try putting salt on your on your roof ... sure rust soon ..... because what acid and salt(sodium) does to metal is it oxidises it ..... if the metal remains in its "normal state" rust will never occur. you know what? i have no idea what i'm saying. :lol: :lol: :lol:

anywayz ... to prevent rust from happening ... basicly. use good carwash .... wax and keep your car clean at all times .... remember ... bird shit is the worst enemy ... hope this helps

GSRSolutions: Bro, mind telling me whats the method ure using? Cause i stil think changing the whole roof is the best solution, been waiting to fix it for almost 2 yrs now hole getting bigger after each car wash....

yeah the glue suck.. had done it 2 times ( removed the glue) but still reoccur. i think it's not remove totally

Here's what i did to mine. (i have rust problems with the floor, instead of the roof).

well ..if you having a problem such as roof top rusty already ...there's no way to fix it ..the only way to repair it is go buy a roof top ...and replace it ...labour for removing 2 windscreen front and back including welding roof top..will cost around 700-1000+ ...depends on which workshop you bring to and the whether the workmanship nice or not ...paint cost will be around 170-200+ ...also depends on the workmanship ....if cheap 1 ..of coz the paint is not real 2k paint ...it will faded for the next 1 - 2 years if you always park under the hot sun ...btw ..im a car painter for volvo and honda factory ...trust me ..there's no way to fix back the rusty roof top unless you change it ...even if there's ppl who say can do it ...they are juz trying to con your money ...it will only last for few weeks ..if park under hot sun ..1 week later straight away can see your roof top paint pop out abit ....
