Im a big time against such qualifying format. Its totally unfair at all. What's the point? I still preffer those old times whr they can go out as many times as they wan.

the new qualifying was meant to bring some excitement to the spectators. in a way, it has even out the playing field. even a red bull is able to qualify high up. personally, i think we should let this format run for a few more races and only judge how effective it is. however, the one tyre ruling is pretty confusing.
all in all, i thought just nows race was pretty damn boring. from my past experience watching australian gp, its always filled with exciting overtaking, crashes and so on but this one was really boring. with the exception of villeneuve, most of the other drivers were pretty conservative with their driving.

Schumacher's fault la that incident... he covered his line too late.. and cause Nick to crash into him...Nick even went into the grass just to avoid him...
the qualifying does give other teams opportunites to win... but it did make it seem a bit boring... those who remember last year... the front runners was always running away into the distance... this year all like Auntie driving only...
but i do like Villeneuve's qualifying session....even before the race he started to kept us entertained...and on top of that he had to go and blocked his previous teammate Alonso at the start of the race...

one of the days we will see some back-end teams at the front rows...and this is what some of the drivers are afraid of... they are afraid that some of the drivers who are not used to leading might cause some racing incidents... especially to fast launching cars like Renault on the starting grid...
of course it would only be fair if every team is given a chance to be at the front... but this would always bunch up the cars at the back...much like the season opener...up to now we still could not see the true potential of cars like Williams, McLaren and Ferrari as they might have been slowed down...once they get back on the front rows we might get another perspective...
of all rules i still prefer the JGTC weight penalty system... this is much better and fair and not just throwing the field topsy-turvy...and it might produce some interesting results too... wonder if FIA ever considered this system???

Like Schumi case, I rather stay in the pit to preserve my engine that need to last for 2 GP.
Go back to the old qualifying format, all car role out and make the time together, you can even see overtaking during qualifying, then you will see DC in pole position again. The interesting part is that, you won't know who will get the pole position until last minutes. The slow driver will get excited in the pit too, scared that later his time exits 107% of the pole position holder :lol:
but the old qualifying system have it weakness also, usually no one will leave the pit in first 30 mins, unless raining is forecast in the 2nd of the qualifying session.

I find the new qualifying format abit stupid.
I thought they say will be judge by aggregate the time and then allocate the spots for the drivers from there, but what i see is just a continuing time from the previous day. So why do they say aggregates in the first place?
The 1 tyre per race is just plain stupid, it takes the fun out of racing. All the drivers will want to do is to try to maintain their pace and not wear the tyres out, they should at least allow 1 tyre change per race, that way, the drivers can push all out for the race and not worry about tyre wear.
I don't know lah, let's hope Sepang would be interesting, but then, I doubt it as the hot spell we are experiencing will damage the tyre even further compared to melbourne, drivers will try to keep their pace even more and we'll have less over taking.
