Maintenance Of R34 GTT

Hi all owners of R34 GTT. I have some question wrt to the ER34 as follows:-

1) What is the recommended viscosity of engine oil? How many litres of engine oil are required? What are you guys using? What is the oil filter part no.?

2) What is the recommended viscosity of the differential oils? How many litres of engine oil are required? What are you guys using?

3) What is the recommended viscosity of the manual transmission oils? How many litres of oil are required? What are you guys using?

4) What is the spark plug gap that a stock/midly modded GTT requires? Any recommended brand and its part number?

5) What is the part number of the air-cond filter replacement panels?

6) What available brake pads are available out there for the GTT. Front and rear? Part no?

7) What are the recommended brake fluids to be used on the GTT? Litres required?

8) What is the part no. of the water pump?

9) Timing belt change. What else should be purchased/changed at the same time? Tensioner adjuster? Oil seals (how many)? Air-cond, fan, alternater belt? Any part numbers available for the above?

10) What is the part no. of the fuel filter?

11) Clutch. What are the original part no. and what aftermarket options are available that’s not too stiff!

12) What fluid should be use for the power steering? How many litres are required?

13) Have anybody dynoed the stock ER34? What are the bhp and Nm on the engine and wheels?

Yo V-spec....
here are some answers.. not all.. not had the time to write it ll down man..
1. 10W50 or 10W60 - personally i prefer to use Q8 to other oils. Oil filter use original nissan 15208-53J00

2. Engine oil - 3.9 l (without filter in place, 4.3l with standard oil filter. Varies from there to approx 6l when used with oil coolers. Can't remember what diff oil i am using... need to check.

3. Any synthetic 80W90 - use thicker oils if you feel the box is 'loose'. Helps take up some slack and smoothen the box... this works quite nicely!

4. 1.0 -1.1mm, bit some aussie tuners recommend 0.9. Not tried it personally.
I am a believer in NGK! Standard is PFR-6G-11! Do not use PFR-6A-11!
If using Iridiums also go for Iritop 7. NGK IX plugs are a waste of time.

5. Didn't have time to check.... no local nissan filters fit :(.. i know coz i asked.

6. Any pad that fits R32, R33, Z32... all should fit (excluding GT-R). There are a various aftrer market pads available out there... endless has 300 and 500 degree pad thatis quite cheap. Check with some of the shops around sunway. Pads are the least of your worries. For calliper servive kits... RX7, Prado, etc all can be used. The callipers are frrom sumitomo and the pistons are a fixed size as with the RX7, prado etc..

7. Dot 5.1. Don't mess with anything else! Stick to better knows brands but change once a year. The darn fluid can absorb moisture so make sure you chage it annually.

8. 21010-AA527 or -AA526. Be warned that number is different from RB25DE! Get the right one. DO NOT use the older Cefiro/ R32 pumps... yes they can fit but the amount of water they push may vary. And physically the pump body is smaller on those units. Get an original pump. Worth it .... afterall you're only gonna change every 100k km.

9. Timing belt - 13028-5L327
Replace water pump at this time also. Be careful you get the correct one.
21010-AA527, or -AA526. Do not get the wrong one!
The rest of the belts are pretty simple. Standard lengths that any decent workshop should have.

10. Strainer Assy - Fuel 16400-41B05 (Same as A32 Cefiro, B14 Sentra)

11. Cover Assy - Clutch 30210-AA001
Clutch Disk - 30100-AA000
After market - almost all jap tuners out there have a clutch for the GTt. It's easy to get an Exedy Racing 3 puck and clutch cover here. Exedy stocks them. I just got mine not too long ago. It's not too heavy but as with all 3 puckers it can be hard to drive until you get used to them.

Zephuros is like a walking dictionary.

Most important thing is to get the best discount for the best parts available. If you can afford better quality jap stuff (cut down clubbing, drinking, etc) then get it cause it will last or perform better than original. Just my 2 cents...

zephuros, just to clarify is the engine oil filter part no. A5208-H8904?

What about the differential oil? What oil is recommended?

For spark plugs, you mentioned that BKR5EIX-11 (1.1mm) is the standard issue plugs. I have read somewhere that people claims to be either NGK Iridium BCPR6EIX-11 (0.8mm) OR NGK Iridium BKR5EIX (0.8mm). Which is which? Confused. :shocked:

Why are there two part numbers for the water pump? (21010-AA527 or AA526) Which is standard issue?

Any idea on the part no for the 2 pieces of air cond filter?

Btw, where in Klang Valley can I purchase the parts from?? Any cheap, original and reputable spare part shops around that stocks 'em?

Yo mate!

That part number i beliee is a Pitwork oil filter part number. Just stick to the 15208-53J00. If you need i can get it for you. You can also use the older 15208-H8990 filters but be warned that the oil capacity increases a little since the filters are larger.

Oh standard issee plugs are PFR6G-11. the IX plugs are not standard. Never mentioned that dude...

P - Platinum
F - Thread 14, Reach 19, Hex 16
R - Resistor
6 - Heat Range
G - Special feature
11 - Plug gap - 1.1mm

BCPR6IX-11
These use copper electrodes with only a small iridium tip. Not much la. If you asj me i think they are a waste of time. Stick to platinum or the full iridiums.
and the -11 means the gap cannot be 0.8 standard unless you re-gap them. Also, DO NOT use a gap smaller than 0.9. When running big injectors and a rich mixture the fuel can short the electrodes givng you no spark at all...

Water pump -AA526 ori part, superseded with -AA527

Aircond filter:
Filter Carbon: 27495-5L825
Air purifier Kit: B7400-5L350

Reputable shops got la..... if you want good price go thru me. i'll take you to the shop and introduce you to the boss. I get special prices from him. Shop is in PJ.

TCM doesn't stock anything.... TCM in Singapore is a lot more friendly and helpful if you need to do any special orders as well. When i had my A31 (which was assembled and sold by and serviced by TCM) and I needed a ned handbrake cable they told me that i need to order and pay for freight! If that's what they give you for parts from cars they themselves support, then what more for other nissans?

Thanks zephuros. It's interesting to note that you mentioned the brake service kit for the Prado and RX-7 (FD-3S?) can be used for the ER34.

These basically consists of rubber seals am I right? What about specific part for the ER34 itself?

As for ETCM service, they don't carry any parts for the cars they don't sell. You need to request from them specially. What I could help is if you get the part number list down (from Zephuros - our walking dictionary of Skyline Part List) and let me know. Then I will see what I can do on my side. :_:

from experience, the markups are ridiculous... still a lot cheaper to buy from Singapore la! hehehe! unless you know something we don't :D

all you need to do to service the brakes is to change the seals! so there... If you wanna get an original repair kit just look for the Z32 one.... it's exactly the smae and you've got a better chane of finding those than the R34 ones...

Bonnet is carbon - Border racing, bumper is fibre.
