Re: Looking for gearbox

u might pm FREEGUY or TOM'S for this...
planing to convert ST202 to ST205?:hmmmm:

Re: Looking for gearbox

Asked Tom's but no reply.

No, am planning to chg from 185 to 205.

Would you know of the long shaft n the drive shaft from 185 fits the 205?

gearbox for ST185 and ST205, from the physical is almost the same and it's plug and play either. but the long shaft is different, ST185 longer but ST205 shorter.

Re: Looking for gearbox

still searching for it kenny......not easy to get lerr.....unless buy whiole halfcut

Re: Looking for gearbox

Thanks Tom's.

GT4WD, can I match the 185 long shaft to the 205 gearbox and rear axle. Tom's told me you bought a set from him last time. Mind sharing the differences (in terms of driving, pick-up) between the 2?

Re: Looking for gearbox

you're having it on what chassis? mine are on ST185, i'm now using ST205 front and rear box and i have another complete set from ST185 but front box are from ST205 that previously installed on ST185, i can only differential the front box not the rear as they look the same.

Front and rear box can be installed on ST185, no problem provided if you have all the brackets from ST205, the long shaft from ST205 will not able to use on ST185 as 185's are longer and 205 used shorter long shaft.

ST205 gear ratio is giving better response and top speed, eventually is balanced for pick up and top speed. i'm not sure would it make a different with the LSD rear box as i'm having it with LSD from ST205.

my current setting, ST205 Front and Rear box(LSD), mid box are still ST185.

In term of driving, ST205 surely much more better but cause of short gear ratio, it takes higher RPM

Re: Looking for gearbox

Are you selling ur spare gearbox?

U mentioned that the ST205 long shaft is shorter and it can't be used. Are you using the ST185 long shaft then?

I did a search on the web and found out the the final drive and the rear axle's ration are the same on both ST185 and ST205. However some of the ratio (i think it was from 2nd gear onwards) are different.

hey bro, i heard your car is no longer upgrading at subang instead at puchong... and looking for new greabox for better performance? I'm using the ST185's long shaft and the ST205 long shaft is not with me, still with my friend.

cause of that few gear ratio, it makes lots of changes. you'll know it once you've got it.

sorry bro, keeping the gearbox for space. its to rare to find those boxes nowadays and i seems like breaking numbers of gearbox and just in case anything goes wrong...

Converted the car in subang. Changed the head in puchong.

I found that the ST185 gearbox ratio is a big 'long'. I want something more responsive. Easier to drive in KL.

Mind telling me how 'different' the gearbox is? I found a set of the ST205 gearbox but the price is quite high. The ratio is different but not tht different. Tht's is why i am trying to do more research on it before buying.

ST205's gear ratio is drivable on street compare to ST185, much smoother on pick up and the infinity power to move further. as long the engine output is strong enough, you'll find it fun to drive and duel to closed ratio the RPM will be higher then ST185.

to be honest, test it out and you'll find the different. i feel the big different even my haltech are not well tuned.

Alvin has ST205 and i'm on ST205 gearbox, test it out before you take it, if i were you. If you're interested to find out more, text me then.
