FIA specifications

I heard FIA specifications (compulsory to have FIA spec suit, FIA spec bucket seat, FIA etc, etc, etc.) will be enforced soon.

I think this will raise the standard and level of drifting in Malaysia to higher par.

But personally I feel this will deter alot of upcoming and privateer drifters.

At the present moment, coporate sponsorship for mototsport event is still in infant stage.

I hope the FIA thing are just rumors.

Not rumors. It was mentioned during the pre-D1 driver's briefing. It's gonna be introduced in stages.

maybe the organiser should pool up their resources and offer some sort of packages to noobie drivers? They should pool up with Mofaz, who is now producing FIA spec suits, shoes and gloves. If the organisers buy in bulk from Mofaz, sure can get some discounts. Then noobie drivers are offered with these items with some sort of payment packages, maybe if the total cost is RM 3000, the drivers can pay in instalments? organisers should have forseen something like to crop up, bfr committing our SSO upgraded to D1 level. maybe a thinktank group should be formed between the organisers and the drivers?

Good day.

Yes. It was mentioned by Amprex officials at the driver's briefing two weeks before the 1st D1GP. As mentioned by MK, they will implement new regulations in every round. As for now, they understand the situation faced by our drifters here. As for the first R&R required, its linen compared to the 2005 R&R.

According to them, the full implementioned should be enforced by the 3rd round of the D1 GP here in Malaysia. This includes the time validity of the parts as well. As for now, the officials said it will be introduced by stages. In some sense, if Malaysia wanna go further and compete with the world,it should be implemented. The standard will raise.

you forgot FIA Gloves. Sparco RM400.

FIA bucket seat where got so expensive ? 5k ? can buy 2x new Bride seats already.

OMP seats only RM800 ma.. all OMP seats are FIA approved.

I guess FIA spec rollcage will cost RM2,000 or more. At present moment, non FIA spec roll cage price is already RM1,500++.

With full FIA spec implementation, the no. of cars eligible to participate might dwindle to only a meager handful due to tight financial constraints of privateer drifters.

So all OMP seat have FIA? I Did'nt know of that fact. I was benchmarking to Recaro SPG. THanks for the heads up.

they didn't mention any word of "FIA" Drifting is not yet approve by FIA. only helmet need JIS or SNELL. and must buy 'SA' rating, which is for automotive.
what we need are, fireproof ware. doesn't mean must FIA approved

for rollcage, 6 point or better, don't really to buy FIA one.
so do others.
if you have equip all with FIA standard, then easier for you to join other competition.

if the status of the event still club event what's the point..?? u can always go FIA spec in 1 or 2 years time.. not that things that is not FIA approved not as good.. let those with sponsors go for FIA stuff.. let the privateers in with the minimum requirement stuffs.. as long as they do have the stuff is already a big investment.. is there any confirmation from the organizers that once the rollcages installed they can still drive their cars on the road like rally cars do.. if I were to install a rollcage in my car, I need a confirmation that I can go to PUSPAKOM and inspect and confirm that my car is a road going car prepared to enter D1GP Malaysia.. please take this into consideration before imposing the rollcage regulation as most of the drift cars are road going..

Roll cage tubing must be at a minimum of 1.25 inches OD tubing and no thinner than 0.098 (0.25cm) wall mild steel or 1 .25x .083 (0.21cm) Chromoly tubing.
seamless tubing is cheaper, a 20 feet cost about Rm100~200.
