Embed DVR in car?

Has anyone here managed to embed a DVR video recording camera in their car? Something perhaps like this:

The unit starts when the car is started and offs when engine is turned off.

Can be a fun DIY :D

What I did was embed the wirings into roof fittings and have the camera stealth installed behind rear view mirror.
At times, I even forgot I had it there.
