My brakes pads are about a year oldor your brake pad no more already.. some cars pad finish uneven.. if new brake pad the rust after water splash (as above mentioned)..

Could be sand trapped in between, or your pads near finish the indicator touching the disc?Also when I brake coming to a stop sometimes I'll hear a scratching noise and if going down hill, the noise will sometimes continue after braking, would that be a sticking caliper?

I not sure about trumpet sound, my wild guess. Might be caliper release too slow.
