before buying a rx8

plan to get a 2nd hand rx8, heard its better to perform a compression test before buying it, so what results will compression test give me? the condition of the engine as in durability?
and rotary engine wont last long they say, is it true?

sorry for the noob questions as im still a newbie
im looking forward for anyone's answer especially rx8 owner

it can last very long , but that also depends on how its maintained etc ...but depends on ur luck la , mine almost one year ,then engine need to overhaul ... lol :x
