Audi A4

hey guys,

i recently bought an Audi A4 1.6, year 2000( facelifted) and am interested in replacing the original 15 inch wheels to a 17inch one found one from an Audi TT( 04). i am just wondering whether it will fit on my car or not?

the price was listed as 1700 pounds for a set by Audi uk, and i found a set ( a month old) for 500 quid. what do you guys think?
for the same amount of money, i think i could get a new set from malaysia. but unfortunately, i am at the wrong part of the world where things are generally more expensive except for the initial purchase price of the car :P

went and check out the wheel this afternoon, was in immaculate conditions! wow. superb...
but unfortunately, when i wanted to try on my car, it cant fit!
according to local Audi dealer,( seller phone up to confirm fittment) it will fit the entire Audi range..
i wonder why?
seems like the wheels( studs area are too wide thus, cant fit with on)
is that something to do with all the confusing numbers?
like PCD, offsets....
what are these by the way?

could anyone care to shed some enligthments?

The PCD is the bolt pattern eg 5/120 is 5 lug arranged 120mm pattern. Offset is how far from the centre line of the hub the wheel is. Wrong PCD means you can't even fit the wheel in where as wrong offset means bad handling and may also cause the tyres to scrub/hit the fenders.

I think the Audi A4 has PCD 5/112 whereas the TT has PCD 5/100. You can look for rims from A6, A8, S4 and S6 (all 5/112 and same offset) but not A3 and TT (both 5/100).

mmm.. this means the tt shares the same platform as the VW Golf and not from Audi... The golf is a 5/100 PCD...

it certainly clear my mind off
was about to give up and surrender 80 pounds for a new tyre( euromaster brand-never heard of it!).
went to a local tyre centre and there was a set of A4 alloys ( 6 spokes- like GTI design) asking for 350 pounds. wasnt one of the best around but was ok. i ll rate it 7 out of 10 with plenty of thread on the tyres as it came off a year old Audi. thus is an original Audi alloys!
took my wheels as part exchanged and i paid 300 pounds in total.

i am also intersted in changing the light bulbs of the headlight to give a xenon HID look, cant really afford a real HID set here as they are pretty expensive. was thinking about getting either the philips blue vision or the osram silverstar. i know such questions has been asked many times but i just havent heard about this osram brand!

it claims to outperform the xenon in comparison, and is one of the top leader in after market bulbs, wonder how true is that statement is....

anyway, i am also aware that audi a4 does comes into fitting, the earlier one was H4 unit and the facelifted one is H7. is it true?

was planning to get it fix myself...

yes, a 1.6
is the base model and cost new around 19k pounds 4 years ago
i would like to get a better model like the 2.4 but for the same price, ( used car) or little differnce, the insurance is a massive difference, could be thousands of pounds
thats why i got the 1.6 instead

A3 and S3 are relatively cheap here in UK, but as i said, insurance is such a pain, it could be more expensive then the car you are paying! i am just a student here and the insurance for a c200 would cost me 8 k pounds!, and the car it self is just 9k

but mine is a manual, so is not too bad, pretty impress with the agility of the handling
