me2kimi 500 RPM Senior Member Jun 24, 2012 #4 Surely it is not a valve. Map sensor will not work if there is a valve in it's vacuum line. It will be always full vacuum at map sensor. I think it's more to dampening vacuum, so that map sensor not measure a fluctuating vacuum.
