guys,

Need some advise...i have a 1996 civic single cam Vtec with auto tranny...previously i had a problem where whenever it shifts to 3rd gear the rpm would drop slightly before picks up again..this was resolved by changing the gbox oil...the problem came again this time around and i changed the gbox oil but the rpm still drops..my suspicion is one the clutch now...can anyone advise me on what the signs are if the clutch is failing?

thanks...

also i want to add that sometimes when i am at a slope and the car os on "D", the car tends to move bacwards a bit but when i tap on the throttle, it remains still. Need serious advise guys....

if not mistaken auto tranny have both torque converter & clutch..
problem gb will have clutch slip..

killa626,
from what u mention doesnt sound like slip to me..
the clutch slip i experience is the RPM go higher then only back to normal during shift..
i have experience 3 gb slip also rpm go higher..
just as if u r driving manual shift into higher gear press gas & release clutch slower..

then does this mean that something is wrong with my gearbox?..i mean cuz this happens only on the 3rd gear...will rebuilding the gbox help?

I think it's cheaper just to get a new gearbox from chop shop rather than doing a rebuild...the internals can be quite expensive.
