Can Thai drifters join in D1 GP Malaysia?

so in a way D1gp is afiliated with AAM, hence the work permit regulation or race license apply to d1gp-my non-local participants? how about those singapore participants, i think there is 1 singapore participants in d1gp right, doe he/she have a work permit in malaysia? i think the crowd locally or thai or sing would love to see 3 diff country drifting, and battling out to give everyone a good show, talking about promoting motorsport in malaysia, this would be a good base/platform to jumpstart young talent, and i see it as a very healthy motorsport, and you can't deny drifting is a very public sports and is affordable. compare to major races, which require sponsors or you are rich enough by entering as a privateer.

well there are a few driver from singapore, at least 5-6 drivers but only one hasa a work permit the rest are in a bind i would assume.

it is aam position that foreign driver cannot take part due to the fact it is a club event. AAM is affliated to FIA thus must follow thier rules in terms of motorsport. As to US, am not sure how they work as they are not under FIA umbrella I think and have their own way of doingn things there.

when Sepang Drag Battle started, it was open to all. Then when AAM started clamping down, they just require foreign worker to have work letter / letter of employment (which was easily taken care of by the team sponsors). but since then, they require official work-permit to allow them to participate.

I think it was the BFG Drag a few years ago when the thai people came to race, and they had all the official racing licenses.

For D1, i think by next year should not be a problem with licenses because the drifters are a serious bunch. The progression of the rules (first helmet, then suite, rollcage, etc) is to prepare the car for safety and also show the drivers commitment to the sport. Committed drivers will definately go out and get racing licences...

hmmm, in that case, is good if we can have D1 Street Legal for others amateur as oppose to professional, more affordable

BFG/AMF Drag 2 years ago requires racing license. I remember my class got only like 6 cars.

going to be hard to distinguish amatues and pro in drifitng till it start then how to take them out i would think....then again if you follow some of the rules then most cars are not totally street legal in temr of their regulations..hehehehe......one d1 is enough i think to prevent confusion....

yeah man once license comes in more $$$ flies less ppl will join.....

true also, japan allow roll cage generally, here we can't have roll cage in the car, guess in that terms, if we get both SL and Pro series, more confusion will be created. how much is the race license? understand with that race license, u can't join other competition other then FIA/AAM sanctioned or something right?

something like that. Licensed drivers (FIA/AAM) are not allowed to take part in unsanctioned events. Or if they did, better not let AAM find out la.

I think racing license is RM 300 per year. It will expire on 31st Dec of the year, no matter which month you made it in. To get racing license must have medical check up as well.

license is rm250 and yes you cannot enter in non sanction events and to enter overseas sanction event u need a letter from AAM. plus medical plus blood test if you do not have your RO type and club membership fees to add.
